| Act Bio | At first glance, Yashika Ja’Quay Robinson had the typical upbringing of an R&B diva. The daughter of a Baptist minister, her young voice was molded in the church. However, her young ears were consuming the sounds of 70’s acts such as The Emotions, Earth Wind and Fire, and Chaka Kahn.
Recently Ja’Quay was featured in an article in Vibe Magazine’s “Free Agent†section, which spotlights up and coming talent. It is her unique sound and unflinching subject matter that caught the ears of the VIBE staff.
Though her vocal inspirations are many, Ja’Quay brings her own brand of lyrical realism; a rhythmic collage of love, pain, hope and faith. With this multi-talented star on the rise, there is no doubt that she will soon influence the voices of generations to come. |
