01/12/2005Initial release of the site. Although not all features are implemented yet, there are enough for bands to set up their pages and enter their gigs while we complete the site.

  • Fixed website links. If http:// is omitted when entering a link, it will now be added automatically.
  • Display 'Click here' instead of the website URL because some URL's are too long to fit in the boxes and screwed up the display.
01/14/2005The quick search form at the top of all pages is now functional.
Fixed a bug that assigned the wrong state when creating a venue in a state different than the home state of an act.
01/27/2005Modified the user and act registration forms to hopefully be more user-friendly. Added more explicit error messages inline with the fields. Other forms will be converted to the new format shortly.
Changed the band / act Edit link to a button that should be more more easily noticed by new users.
02/07/2005Added sort options to Places Played, Influences and Songlist setup. Bands can now choose to have this data display in sorted order. The songlist can be sorted by song title or by artist.

Monthly Folk Music Night

Perry Hall United Methodist Church is hosting a monthly "open mike" folk music night on Saturdays from 7:30-10:00 PM. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. The church is located at 9515 Belair Rd., Baltimore, Maryland 21236. Map It.

So, what will you hear at our Folk Music Night? You'll hear local talent performing traditional folk songs, as well as songs written by such singer/songwriters as Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Gordon Lightfoot, Tom Paxton, Harry Chapin, Paul Simon, James Taylor, John Denver, Joni Mitchell, and Laura Nyro. You'll probably argue that some of what you hear isn't really folk music, and you'll be right! (For example, songs from the Beatles and the Everly Brothers.) You'll also hear original compositions performed by the up-and-coming local artists who have written them. You'll hear music performed on guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, ukulele, autoharp, trumpet, and maybe even a "harp guitar". So, try us out. You'll be glad you did!
